Maytin Kan was a legend in watercolor painting. Well-known in the seventies, he was regarded as the “King” or “Master of Watercolor” in the East.
Maytin Kan was well-known for his still life paintings, but he was masterful at taking the most mundane subjects and breathing life into them with deftly placed brush strokes.
In 2019, the Hong Kong Museum of Art planned a grand re-opening to showcase the History of Chinese art. Political riots broke out that year and the grand opening was threatened, but during the week of the planned opening, all was quiet and peaceful. Here are some photos from that momentous event
